OUR WAY OF LIFE AND BEEING

Free and voluntary participation

In order to stay as free and creative as possible, we explore alternative ways of financing our project. At the heart of this is the voluntary participation of all those who appreciate our approach and wish to see it continue.

We are passionate about this project, to us it is so much more than a simple project. It is a real choice of life and work. It corresponds not only to our "professional" competences but also to our centers of interests and our philosophy of life. We commit ourselves fully and in the long term to its success, so money is a means and not a goal.

----------------

FREE AND VOLUNTARY PARTICIPATION. This can mean, for example, monetary input (via crowdfunding) but also any other form of contributing and participating : skills (translations, organising screenings for example), donations of food and other useful products, etc.

Ideally, we would like to not have to spend money, and that all basic needs of the project would be satisfied by contributions from those who support us...

You will find on this page a non-exhaustive list of possible ways of participating.

SUPPORT

Crowdfunding

The episodes are accessible to all, freely distributable and reusable. If you would like to make a voluntary financial contribution towards future episodes and thus help us continue the adventure, here are the details ...

Crowdfunding

You can help as it's possible for you. Thank you very much!

HOW TO PARTICIPATE ?

Payments are made to the not-for-profit organisation 'A Contre Courant' (Against the Current) which administrates the SideWays project.. Please ask us if you would like a receipt.

Tipeee, financial support platform for creators on the web. You can make a one-time donation, or support us in the longer term to ensure the sustainability of the series.

  paypal
Your payment is secure. Your donation will not be automatically taken into account by the crowdfunding module of our site, but we will quickly add it to the progress bar for the financing of that episode.

  bank transfer
Do not hesitate to ask us for full bank details in order to make a transfer.

BUDGET FOR AN EPISODE

The budget for an episode corresponds to the average time it takes to produce an episode including research into the subject, filming, post-production, site and overall project management.

Based on the budgets of previous episodes, the estimated average time for production of an episode is about 3 months, or around € 3.000.

The € 3.000, which you can help finance, consists of:
€ 1.750 for the specific expenses related to the project, comprising:
    - Transport (petrol, maintenance, etc.): € 1.020
    - Work equipment: € 390
    - Means of communication: € 290
    - Support to other projects: € 60

€ 1.250 for the day to day needs of the volunteers who work on the project (€ 210 / month / pers.).

TRANSPARENCY OF ACCOUNTS

We think it is important that everyone knows how the money contributed by supporters of the project is used. All the accounts of the project are detailed on the page."An alternative economic model".

Here is a brief overview: the amount of expenditure for the last 3 years has been stable (around € 12.000 per year). The revenues have evolved: 50% of the costs were financed by the proceeds of the project in 2014, 96% in 2015, 93% in 2016. Thank you for helping us to reach equilibrium

Filmscreening

Screening Episodes

It seems that positive leads to more positive.
So if we broadcast positive news, we're surely moving in the right direction?

Help improve the project

Translate text from French to English, help improve English translations of the series, inform us about bugs you find on the site, advise us, train us or participate in the technical aspects of creation. There are multiple ways to invest to improve the project and the episodes.

Some ideas of participation

We are not bilingual anglophone. All translations of the website and the episodes into English were made by contributors to the series (we thank you very much!). Feel free to help us improve existing translations and, if you are interested, you can also help us to continue translations from French to English: upcoming episodes, blog posts, etc. It's a big help for us!

You can offer advice to improve the website and episodes at the technical level, or even train us or help us perform certain tasks (calibration, sound mixing, web development, accessibility, etc.) For example, we are very open to offers of technical help to improve the loading time of the episodes.

Other projects will see the light of day in the medium term, including the production of paper booklets drawn from on-line episode magazines. If you have skills in graphic design, drawing, editing and this type of project interests you, do not hesitate to let us know.

We would be happy to tailor the project to the visually impaired or the hard of hearing. If you know how to improve our content, we would gratefully accept advice and help in these areas. On this theme, if you are motivated to lend your voice to create audio versions of magazines, it would be great!

And more generally, we welcome feedback, advice, ideas to improve the project or to take the adventure further.
